First the home of Thomas E. Cooper...
The fine Italianate structure with it's striking red double doors is an example of what life was like for the wealthiest Perth Amboy citizens during a time long gone. Now housing the Raritan Yacht Club, the building holds much lore of the yachting history on and around the Raritan Bay from the last 150 years. The Club itself was established in 1882 from two others, the Carteret Boat Club (1865) and the Perth Amboy Yacht Club (1874), making it the second oldest yacht club in New Jersey and one of the oldest in the country.
The Raritan Yacht Club hosts numerous, highly popular sailing races during the year and is actively seeking new members. It promotes many social and service activities and provides sailing instruction to members of all ages.
