She smelled like herself, like the wind through a tree.

Trees are a source of beauty and inspiration. The streets of the waterfront district are lined mostly with sycamore, oak, and cherry blossom trees. Most trees are as old as some of the homes. Increasing unpredictable weather and more frequent and violent storms/floods over the years have caused the loss of many trees, some with historic significance. Other losses are caused by disease or the cutting back of some for utility reasons. 1683 Society will continually strive to maintain the beautiful character of our tree-rich district by donating trees.

Residents can contribute towards the purchase of a mature tree, its planting cost and a year's maintenance to ensure the tree's viability.
